ConGen2023 Getting There

ConGen 2023 will take place at St. Francis University is located in Loretto, Pennsylvania, just 5 miles from a major interstate highway (U.S. Route 22), and a hop, skip and a jump away from major cities like Pittsburgh, New York, Detroit, Chicago, Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia.

Air Travel:

Fly to State College University Park Airport (SCE).

SCE is located within one hour from the course location at SFU. The SCE airport is not too large and generally pretty user friendly. Several major airlines fly to Budapest including Delta, American, and United with connections to Philadelphia, Newark, New York City, Chicago and Detroit. If you are a ConGen 2023 participant, we will arrange for a shuttle to pick you up and drop you off at this airport on the first and last day of the course respectively.

Fly to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)

This major international airport serving the Greater Pittsburgh Region is located within 2 hour drive from the ConGen location at SFU. The PIT airport offers hundreds of flights to many destinations thoroughwort the USA, North America, and Europe.

Fly to Harrisburg International Airport (MDT)

This large regional airport serving the Greater Pittsburgh Region airport is located within 2.5 hour drive from the ConGen location at SFU. The MDT airport offers dozens of flights to many destinations thoroughwort the USA, and you may prefer it for the direct flights from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas.

Ground transportation:

If you choose to fly to PIT or MDT, you will have to arrange your own ground transportation.  Major car rental companies serve these airports including Hertz, Alamo, Thrifty, Alamo and others.  We will put you in touch with other participants in case you may be able to arrange a shared ride.

We will be providing transportation for students and the faculty only. If you have missed your pickup, or are on your own, you could follow these directions.

From MDT: Harrisburg International Airport (click on the directions to follow to the Google map)

Take Airport Dr and Terminal Dr to State Rte 3032 for 1.2 mi, then continue to Potter Township for 83.7 mi.  Keep left to stay on US-322 W for 14.1 mi, then continue on I-99 S to Cresson Township for 54.4 mi. Take the exit toward Cresson/Summit from US-22 for 54.4 mi.  Take the exit toward Cresson/Summit from US-22 W.  Follow State Rte 2014/Admiral Peary Hwy and St Joseph St to Lakeview Dr in Allegheny Township for 5.8 mi and arrive to Saint Francis University.

From PIT: Pittsburgh International Airport (click on the directions to follow to the Google map)

From the Terminal, get on I-376 E in Findlay Township from Airport Blvd and drive 2.1 mi.  Then follow I-376 E and US-22 E to T633 in Cambria Township for 89.6 mi and take the exit toward Ebensburg/Loretto from US-22 E.  Follow Manor Dr to Evergreen Drive in Loretto for 5.8 mi and arrive to Saint Francis University.

Train: The best way to get from Pittsburgh to Saint Francis University without a car is to take the Pennsylvanian train which takes about 3 hours.  The whole trip wil cost between $65 – $100.  The train runs once a day will take you from Pittsburgh Amtrak Station to Altoona Amtrak station the ticket will cost you between $30-45.  You wil have to take a taxi to SFU from there  for approximately $50.

Bus: You can take a Greyhound bus from Pittsburgh Station  to Ebensburg and continue fby taxi.  The bus ticket should cost between $30-40, and the taxi will be around $15.

Visitor parking areas include the JFK lots, lower Stokes lot, along Lakeview Drive and Franciscan Way (chapel). View all designated parking areas on the Virtual Map
